Originally shared in the Krux tg group and copied to kruxBR: BD! None of us were promised This morning, I'm honored and grateful for the trust — to be verified, that Odudex and other devs have expressed in accepting the handover of responsibilities of github's krux repository and the selfcustody/krux firmware signing keys. For Users: I'll aspire to do my best in handling that duty so that reasonably-attentive kruxers -- following this and other krux telegram groups or For Developers: Without the same well-rounded experience with the codebase as Odudex, I will heavily rely on him and other devs for review of proposed changes in areas where I don't have enough expertise to scrutinize. I may need to be educated by devs who submit PRs, convinced through examples and tests, and given patience to "come-around" to your good ideas; my bias will be conservatively hesitant of change. For VARs: Selfcustody krux remains a free open-source project -- without change to its existing published "ethos". It is available to the world, without restriction but also without endorsement for any particular reseller. I strongly encourage your participation in the same krux communities as existing krux contributors; your support would be much appreciated. Did I mention "You have impeccable taste!"? For the immediate and mid-term future, I envision two 'styles' of krux releases: normal "periodic upgrades" and "urgent: must upgrade and act asap!", since those are the days we are living. Please look forward to my first release within the next month; I will be practicing the normal "periodic upgrade" cycle with the latest changes in the repository's 'develop' branch. I also see eventually handing-over responsibility of the repository and signing keys to another repo-maintainer -- which would be someone highly qualified, respected by the community, and an obvious choice among active krux devs. Least desirable but still probable, if K210 hardware becomes unavailable -- without a path to support more boards, and without another repo-maintainer to take the reins for long-term support of obsolete hardware, I myself will do as Odudex had planned and I will archive the repository. Let's hope that long-before then, simply having access to open-source code will be enough for 'clankers' to do verifiably good magic. -Jean Do (jdlcdl) |

I (@odudex) am happy to announce that Krux has a new lead maintainer: Jean Do - @jdlcdl.
Jean joined Krux years ago, initially as a skeptic. He started with a deep investigation into Krux's flash storage. As his confidence grew, he began contributing in numerous ways, among them the thorough reviews I want to highlight in particular. More recently, Jean did impressive work transforming Krux's encryption into a well-built specification: the KEF encryption format. Alongside it, he created Datum Tool, an extremely powerful and underrated utility that every developer working on air-gapped solutions should know about.
Jean also contributes to SeedSigner and other projects, coding, reviewing, and supporting the community with his unmatched wisdom.
Jean is now owner of selcustody organization and possess Krux firmware signing key, the same Krux creator, Jeff, handed me more than 3 years ago.
I, Odudex, am not going away. I'm simply stepping into the role of a regular contributor, and I'll remain available to help Jean and the team.
🎉 All the best for Krux and Jean Do! 🎉
