Minutes

The meeting began at 14:00. In addition to some familiar faces, the meeting welcomed Iryna, Maryna and James. Iryna and Maryna are visiting the School of Computer Science from the Institute of Mathematics of NAS of Ukraine. This is their second time attending these meetings, having first attended on 11th March 2020. James is a penultimate year maths and computer science student that spoke with James (Mitchell) and Olexandr about a senior honours project.

The meeting consisted of talks from Josh, Jake, Rheya and Anuj detailing the work they have done during the VIP. Josh and Jake focused on their work on the Julia bindings, but also mentioned some of the other tasks they worked on (such as the to functions, implementing new presentation examples, fixing TODOs in libsemigroups, implementing new word orders, and Haskell bindings). Rheya spoke about the implementation of colour refinement in GAP, including a discussion about optimisations and canonical forms. Anuj spoke about about improved documentation and error handling for various digraph encodings, and an implementation of an algorithm for recognising map graphs.

All of the talks were great, and the person writing these minutes enjoyed them all very much!

The meeting ended earlier than usual at 15:30 to give people time to attend the School of Maths and Stats' inaugural lecture showcase. Due to some issues with the audio, the meeting was unfortunately not broadcast on Teams this week.
