An alternative (equivalent) version of the amendment was produced by Barny Whitman for clarity as a note to Rule 23b instead:

Note 1. A temporary exception for this rule is made for Candidatus genus names effectively published before 1 January 2022 when an ICNP name has not been validly published for the same taxon. Upon validation of the genus name in the SeqCode, the date of the effective publication establishes priority. However, this protection of Candidatus names is lost if the Candidatus genus name is not validated before 1 January, 2027.
