Release list
Section Reader 0.2.5
Fixes Community build verification after the pnpm migration.
pnpm records absolute installation paths in its workspace cache. A review sandbox that relocates installed source files could therefore fail before the build script starts, despite unchanged dependencies. Builds now allow this relocation; clean frozen installation remains mandatory in CI and release jobs.
CI and release jobs now perform an additional fresh install, move the installed source tree, and verify that the build succeeds with byte-identical assets and an unchanged lockfile. Node.js 22.13, 24, and 26 are covered.
The Node.js and pinned-pnpm compatibility fixes from 0.2.4 are retained. Dependency script approvals, dependency audits, official scanner checks, the verified braces backport, and artifact attestations remain enforced.
The plugin's JavaScript and stylesheet are unchanged from 0.2.3 and 0.2.4. Existing settings and notes require no migration. The minimum supported Obsidian version remains 1.8.7.
Section Reader 0.2.4
Fixes source dependency installation compatibility for the Obsidian Community review service after the pnpm migration.
- Keep pnpm 11.7.0 pinned while allowing other pnpm launchers to fetch and execute that exact version.
- Support the Node.js versions accepted by the locked dependencies; retain Node.js 24 as the release baseline and add clean-install CI checks for Node.js 22.13 and 26.
- Preserve frozen dependency resolution, reviewed installation scripts, vulnerability checks, and the audited braces repair for the isolated official scanner.
The plugin's JavaScript and stylesheet are byte-for-byte identical to 0.2.3. Existing settings and notes require no migration, and the minimum supported Obsidian version remains 1.8.7.
Validation: 58 plugin tests and 70 release-gate tests pass on all three tested Node.js versions. The Community preview completed for commit 5622105b193cc7f2e0bbe89cfa60d05b560915d7 before publication.
Section Reader 0.2.3
Maintenance release completing the pnpm migration and repairing the official scanner's isolated dependency vulnerability.
- The plugin bundle and stylesheet are byte-for-byte identical to 0.2.2. Reading behavior, settings, and saved progress formats are unchanged. The minimum supported Obsidian version remains 1.8.7.
- Source builds now use Node.js 24 LTS and pnpm 11.7.0, with a frozen lockfile and reviewed installation scripts. The migration preserves the existing dependency versions.
- The official scanner receives a source-verified braces depth-limit backport for GHSA-vfj7-8cjw-p6xm. Original audit records remain visible; only that advisory and its derived entries are recognized after every affected instance passes source and behavior checks. Other vulnerabilities and incomplete scans still block releases. The temporary backport requires review before November 2, 2026.
- CI and release checks cover both Obsidian API versions, plugin tests, packaging guards, and the official ESLint and Stylelint scanners. All three release assets carry verified build provenance.
See the release checks and backport policy for details.

Section Reader 0.2.1
This maintenance release adds verifiable build provenance and fixes the isolated CI scanner dependency tree. Plugin runtime behavior is unchanged from 0.2.0.
- Generate signed GitHub build provenance for
main.js,manifest.json, andstyles.css. - Verify each file against the release workflow, exact tag, source commit, and GitHub-hosted runner before publication.
- Override Moment to 2.31.0 in the official scanner's isolated dependency installation and require a clean npm audit. Official Obsidian rules and severities are unchanged.
- Retain the compatible ESLint 9 toolchain until its Obsidian rule dependencies support ESLint 10.
Validation: 58 plugin tests, 12 release-gate tests, 3 scanner bootstrap checks, type checks, lint, build, packaging checks, and official Obsidian checks. main.js and styles.css are byte-for-byte identical to the 0.2.0 build previously tested in native Obsidian.
See release checks and independent attestation verification.
Section Reader 0.2.0
Section Reader turns sections separated by a root-level --- into a focused reading view, while keeping the entire note in one Markdown file.
Highlights
- Read one section at a time, using arrow keys on desktop or double taps near the left and right edges of the mobile screen.
- Jump through the outline, same-note headings, block links, and footnotes without leaving the card view.
- Keep native links, embeds, task interactions, and reading progress.
- Preserve each card's scroll position during a reading session and respect reduced-motion preferences.
- Use English or Chinese commands according to Obsidian's interface language.
This release fixes footnote navigation between cards and supports testing touch navigation in Obsidian's mobile UI emulation.
Installation
Requires Obsidian 1.8.7 or later. Download main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css from this release, place all three in <vault>/.obsidian/plugins/section-reader/, and enable Section Reader under Community plugins. Use your vault's configured settings folder if it differs from .obsidian.
The plugin does not assign a default toggle hotkey. Bind one under Settings → Hotkeys, or use the ribbon icon or command palette.
Previous Focus Cards installations
Section Reader uses the new plugin ID section-reader and installs separately from Focus Cards 0.1.x. Disable the old Focus Cards plugin before enabling Section Reader. Reading-progress data is not migrated automatically; your Markdown notes remain usable as they are.
Validation
- Current and minimum Obsidian API type checks, ESLint, 58 unit/integration tests, 12 release-gate tests, production build, and package validation passed.
- Desktop acceptance passed in a new Obsidian 1.13.7 vault on macOS.
- Mobile UI emulation at 390 × 844 passed touch navigation and reduced-motion checks. Physical iOS/Android devices were not tested in this run.
See the acceptance record for the tested behaviors, asset hashes, and coverage limits.
