i was thinking about downgrading my ps4, and i was thinking that there must be a way for the ps4 to identify the version of the pup file. is certainly isnt the name, so i thought maybe its something inside the pup file. if it is possible to change it making the ps4 think it is a newer update but in reality you are just downgrading the firmware. idk if it is a hardware issue or not. it is just a suggestion.

It doesn't really work that way, or rather, broadly speaking it does. Let me explain, if we can change the identifier of the update file(which is not necessary for cfw development) of the firmware it means that we are already at an advanced stage of cfw development, but performing a downgrade without a hardware modification is impossible. The firmware is contained within a memory called syscon which is an EEPROM (rewritable memory for short) that requires flashing to be modified. Please don't get your hands on your console if you don't know what you are doing or you risk ending up with a really expensive doorstop.
