This is more of an open-ended question than a serious problem, but I’d like to share it because it happened to me in a very specific way, and this discussion might help with the issue of recovering autosaved files. It turns out that in version 0.8.5 (on F-Droid—this doesn’t happen in 0.8.9 for now), I accidentally performed an action that ended up destroying an XNote file I’d originally imported from a PDF, which contained many added images and drawings and was over 30 MB in size. Due to a old split-view bug (#66), I was writing notes and uploading images when a notification accidentally popped up—I tapped it and swiped it upward. The app closed (possibly while the content was being saved) and then reappeared in split-screen mode. When I returned to XNotes, the file had suddenly become corrupted and was completely.
What happens if the file is corrupted due to an auto-save failure while I'm adding images and the app suddenly closes (because it's updating, the battery ran out, or something similar)? Will there be a mechanism to ensure that a saved copy from before the failed auto-save is restored?
