refactor php code or explain necessary php environment

There seems to be quite a bit of php code involved which doesn't work if started from a local http-server.
IMHO options would be:

1. Get rid of the PHP code by refactoring to a node/npm solution
2. explain PHP environment better
3. create a docker file that has PHP and Node enviroment to deploy
