The Routine Machine Privacy Policy

TL;DR: We honestly don't care what you eat, and we aren't selling your data to people who do.
Welcome to The Routine Machine. You are here because you want to automate your meals and chores, not because you want your personal habits harvested and sold to advertisers.
Most privacy policies are written by lawyers trying to put you to sleep. Ours is written by the developers who just want to assure you that your data is safe, secure, and entirely your own business.
Here is exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and what we absolutely refuse to do with it.
To make the Machine work, we have to remember the things you tell it. We collect:
- Account Information: Your email address and a securely hashed password. We need this so you can log in across your iPhone, iPad, and the Web.
- Your Master Libraries: The names of the meals and chores you add to your app (e.g., "Pesto Pasta", "Wash the Bathmats").
- Your Schedule: The matrix of what meals and chores you have assigned to specific days.
That’s it. No sneaky background location tracking, no accessing your contacts, and no listening to your microphone.
We use your data for exactly one reason: To make your app function.
- To sync your schedule flawlessly between your iOS devices and the web app.
- To generate your upcoming weeks using the "Regenerate" algorithm.
- To send you the daily push notifications you explicitly asked for.
We believe in pure utility and zero surveillance. Therefore:
- We will not sell, rent, or lease your data to third-party data brokers.
- We will not serve you targeted ads for dish soap just because you added "Do the Dishes" to your Chore Machine.
- We will not judge you if your Food Machine schedule consists of ordering takeout four nights in a row.
We use Google Firebase to securely host and sync your data in the cloud. They are the industry standard for secure, encrypted app databases.
- Your passwords are encrypted. We cannot see them.
- Your data is transmitted securely via HTTPS.
You can read more about how Google handles cloud security here, but rest assured, they aren't reading your chore list either.
Decided you're done planning your life and want to return to the chaos of the 5:00 PM crisis? We respect that.
You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the Settings tab in the iOS app. Once you hit delete, your account, your libraries, and your schedules are permanently wiped from our database. No ghost profiles, no 30-day waiting periods. Poof. Gone.
