Is there an existing issue for this?
Platform
Linux, Mac, Windows, Android, iOS
OS version
Android 13, Ubuntu 24.04
App version
6.0.4
Current Behavior
I selfhost my own SMP and XFTP-server and discovered that if you disable the server that is used when your share your simplex address, the invites stop working. This is testet on Ubuntu 24.04 (Flatpak) and Android 13, however I believe it is a generic issue on all platforms.
The workaround is to delete your current address and create a new one.
Expected Behavior
When a user disable the current server used for receiving invites (the server that is embedded in the simplex address), the user should be informed about this and the consequence. The user should be given the option to set a new server from the existing list of SMP-servers or cancel the action. A new invite URL and QR should be created if the user choose to use a new SMP-server. The same should happen if the users tries to delete the existing invite server.
Steps To Reproduce
- Disable the SMP-server that is embedded in your simplex address.
- Share your Simplex address with a friend
- Wait forever for an invite request that never gets delivered.
