v11.4.20 - Skales IQ 🦎
The headline of this release is Skales IQ:
our free built-in trial model, is rolling out as an early Alpha. Open Skales and start chatting with no API key. It runs on our servers with limited capacity, so it may be paused or adjusted while we tune it. You can change any time to your default provider (BYOK or Local).
Highlights
- Skales IQ, a free trial built in. Turn it on from the first-run setup or in Settings under AI Providers and start working right away. AI Providers now leads with Skales IQ, so getting started no longer means hunting for an API key.
- Skales Stack. An optional toggle that answers a few trivially deterministic things (the live time, plain arithmetic) instantly on your machine without spending a model call, and shows which local capabilities (media, browser, search) are ready.
- Code mode got a lot friendlier. One-tap Build this plan from Plan mode, one-click Undo for any file the assistant writes or edits (and Undo all for a whole turn), an added/removed count next to each edit, and
@to point at or pull in a file from your bound folder. The@menu is now grouped into Skills, MCP, Workflows and Files. - Plan mode asks before it plans. When a request leaves something open, Skales asks one to three quick questions you answer with a tap before it lays out the plan.
- Replies stream in more promptly, with a fall back to the previous behavior if the live connection is ever unavailable.
Changed
- Friend Mode and Discover feed alerts now start off on a fresh install. Turn them on yourself under Notifications. If you already had them on, nothing changes.
- Workflow now ships switched on for new installs.
- Codework now lives in the chat's Code mode and stays reachable any time with the
/codeworkcommand. - The Ollama model marketplace starts collapsed, with a couple of lighter Gemma 3 sizes added for smaller machines.
- The sidebar reads cleaner in non-Latin languages.
Fixed
- Scheduled tasks and reminders fire on their own again, reliably and at the set time, on all systems including Windows.
- A reminder or task result now appears live in the open chat, not only after a reload.
- Notifications no longer pile up, and toasts stay pinned in the top-right corner.
- The chat could fail to reply on an older saved profile. It now fills any missing fields from the defaults.
- Several Skales IQ touch-ups: one-click switch back to your trial, an in-chat low-balance warning, a clear next step when the trial runs out, and a consent line that reads correctly in every language.
There are also a handful of hidden bits documented at the bottom of the changelog.
Ask Skales which easter eggs it has and it will list them.
