Tesla Launcher v1.4.0 Watcher update
Tesla Launcher v1.4.0
New Features
- AI Co-Pilot (Speed Limit Recognition): Integrated Google ML Kit engine for real-time image processing. The system now uses the front camera to scan the road, detect speed limits (10-130 km/h), and immediately visualize them on the digital instrument cluster.
- Smart Intersection Reset: The AI module now works closely with GPS. If the vehicle changes its heading by more than 40 degrees (a typical turning maneuver), the system automatically drops the AI-detected sign and smoothly reverts to the map-based speed limits.
Camera and Hardware Engine Improvements
- Direct USB Stream Processing (Native Frame Extraction): Completely rewritten UVC camera core. The application now extracts raw frames directly from the data stream (
IFrameCallback) before rendering them on the display. This ensures that both AI and Dashcam recording function flawlessly even when Android aggressively saves power and hides the camera window. - Camera Role Stabilization (Front / Rear): Introduced strict functional separation. The front camera now operates exclusively in the background (recording to disk and analyzing signs), while the rear camera handles immediate display output when reversing.
- Lightning-Fast Boot & Device Memory: Fixed a "State Lag" issue in Jetpack Compose. The application reliably remembers camera assignments even after termination and physical hardware disconnection, instantly initializing the video feed upon restart.
UI Optimizations and Fixes
- Smoother Rendering (Multi-threading): Calculations for route deviation and waypoint tracking have been moved to background computational threads. This completely eliminates camera stuttering and map freezing while driving.
- Android Z-Index Bug Bypass: The reverse camera no longer relies on problematic animations that cause collisions with
SurfaceFlinger. The camera feed runs permanently and securely beneath the user interface and is brought into view via coordinate offset only when physically required by a gear shift, eliminating black screens.

TeslaLauncher V2 (v1.3.2) - Live Traffic, Smart Camera & Rerouting Fixes
TeslaLauncher V2 (v1.3.2)
This update focuses heavily on the visual navigation experience, bringing the map UI closer to professional OEM navigation systems, while squashing a critical routing bug discovered in real-world testing.
🎨 Visual & UI Enhancements
- Live Traffic Congestion Colors: The navigation route is no longer a solid line! The app now parses live traffic data and dynamically color-codes the route segments (Blue for clear, Orange for moderate delays, and Red/Dark Red for heavy traffic or standstills).
- Smart Camera Padding (Forward View): When shifted into Drive ("D"), the vehicle marker (puck) automatically shifts to the bottom third of the screen. This drastically increases your forward visibility on the map, eliminating wasted screen space showing the road you've already driven. Works seamlessly across both Mapbox and Google Maps engines.
🐛 Critical Bug Fixes
- Infinite Rerouting Loop Resolved: Fixed a major bug in the GeoJSON parser where fragmented traffic segments caused the app to lose track of the route after the first intersection. This stops the app from infinitely recalculating the route and spamming the Mapbox API.
- Navigation Instructions Sync: Addressed an issue where turn-by-turn text instructions would freeze or constantly reset due to the aforementioned rerouting loop. Instructions will now flow perfectly until you reach your destination.
If you are upgrading from a version older than v1.3.1, please note that the app is signed with a new developer key. You MUST completely uninstall your current version of TeslaLauncher V2 before installing this update. (Note: Uninstalling will reset your saved settings and downloaded offline maps). If you already have v1.3.1 installed, you can simply update over it normally.

TeslaLauncher V2 (v1.3.1) - Smart Rerouting & Stability Updates
TeslaLauncher V2 (v1.3.1)
This incremental update introduces highly requested smart route recalculation and resolves a critical stability issue when managing map engines.
Due to a lost keystore password, this version is signed with a new developer key. You MUST completely uninstall any previous version of TeslaLauncher V2 before installing v1.3.1. (Note: Uninstalling will reset your saved settings and downloaded offline maps).
New Features & Improvements
- Smart Off-Route Rerouting: The navigation system now continuously monitors your precise cross-track distance to the route line. If you deviate by more than 50 meters, the app will automatically and silently fetch a new route to your destination in the background.
- Highway-Optimized Tracking: Implemented a new custom mathematical proximity algorithm (
pointToLineDistance). This prevents false "off-route" recalculations on long, straight highway segments where GPS route nodes are spaced far apart. - Map Engine Switch Fix: Fixed a crash that occurred when switching between Mapbox and Google Maps engines while an active route was loaded. The system now properly flushes the route geometry from memory during the transition to prevent rendering conflicts.

TeslaLauncher V2 (v1.3.0) - Dynamic Speed Limits & UI Overhaul
TeslaLauncher V2 (v1.3.0)
This major update focuses on significantly improving the navigation experience, bringing dynamic real-time speed limit tracking, and polishing the user interface for a cleaner, safer, and more Tesla-like driving environment.
New Features & Improvements
- Dynamic Real-Time Speed Limits: Speed limits are no longer statically tied to navigation maneuvers. The app now continuously tracks your exact GPS position along the route line and updates the speed limit instantly as you drive through different speed zones.
- Visual Speeding Alert: The current speed display now dynamically turns red whenever you exceed the active speed limit, helping you maintain situational awareness without taking focus off the road.
- Compact Navigation Panel: The turn-by-turn instructions, remaining distance, and ETA have been completely redesigned into a sleek, single-row layout. This significantly increases the visible area of the map.
- Redesigned Instrument Cluster: * Current speed and speed limit signs have been relocated to the top-right corner for optimal visibility.
- System status (OBD connection, GPS, Battery, Coolant Temp) is now cleanly organized in the top-left corner.
- The RPM bar is now fully integrated into the center of the cluster (automatically hides when RPM is 0).
- Refined Map Controls: The "Cancel Route" button (red cross) has been decoupled from the search bar and repositioned to the top-left, resulting in a cleaner search interface and easier reachability while driving.
Technical Context
Previous versions mapped speed limits to text-based navigation instructions (e.g., waiting for the next turn to update the limit). This update rewrites the routing logic to utilize Mapbox's annotations=maxspeed API parameter. The system now parses the entire route geometry into coordinate segments and uses a real-time proximity-matching algorithm to pair the vehicle's current GPS location with the exact speed limit of that specific road segment.

Release v1.2.1 - Navigation Logic: High-Speed Waypoint Fix
TeslaLauncher V2 (v1.2.1)
This incremental update addresses a specific edge-case bug discovered during high-velocity field testing, where the navigation system would fail to recognize a passed waypoint if the vehicle's speed exceeded the GPS sampling threshold.
Improvements & Fixes
- High-Speed Waypoint Detection: Fixed the "missed waypoint" bug. At extremely high speeds (500+ km/h), the vehicle could "jump" over the standard 30-meter detection radius between two GPS ticks.
- Vector-Based Progress Logic: Implemented a new proximity-tracking algorithm (
lastMinDistance). The system now recognizes a node as "passed" if:- The vehicle enters the precise 30m radius.
- OR, the vehicle was within 150m and the distance to the node starts increasing again (detecting the point of closest approach).
- Automatic Queue Reset: Improved the reset logic for
lastMinDistanceduring instruction chaining to ensure a seamless transition between maneuvers without manual intervention.
Technical Context
At speeds around 540 km/h, a vehicle travels approximately 150 meters per second. This update ensures that even with a standard 1Hz GPS update rate, the launcher accurately tracks progress through every node of the route, regardless of velocity.
