Thanks for updating the mpv player inside smplayer 👍 There have been a lot of improvements in mpv, ffmpeg and libplacebo since mpv 0.37 and the new update to the The addition of thumbnail preview is awesome. Right now they struggle to generate quickly and there is a noticeable lag but hopefully that will get resolved as time goes on. Is there a way to adjust the size of the thumbnails? I don't know the size of these thumbnails but I use mpv with thumbfast and its thumbnails are 200 x 200 pixels, and they feel just the right size. . By the way there is a minor glitch in the player; when you toggle the onscreen stats and then immediately minimize or maximize the player window, the last stat page flashes on screen for a second before disappearing. This is on the Windows version. |

Just wondering why the .deb packages are for older Debian and Ubuntu versions? Current Debian is 13 / Trixie, Ubuntu LTS is 26.04. It may introduce library version conflicts for users if they install (e.g. with gDebi) if they are set to pull in older versions of dependencies. EDIT: Installed without issue on Debian Trixie, didnt need any additional dependencies. Works perfectly, i literally cannot find any bugs. |

Tested QT6 ARM version on MacOS Tahoe and Golden Gate Dev Beta. Basic functions (playback, seeking etc) are great. Rotate still doesnt work, but Zoom and Flip do, even in fullscreen. Interface preferences for showing the playlist and hiding the main toolbar don't persist across app restarts. Scrolling the playlist with two finger touchpad scrolling results in unexpected behavior: the scroll direction seems to randomly jump between "natural" and "reverse" scrolling methods. |

One question/suggestion while we're testing these preview builds: Would it be feasible to do one experimental macOS Qt 6 build using a newer Qt 6 version (for example, the current 6.11.x), just as a comparison test? The reason I ask is that I'm seeing some strange two-finger trackpad scrolling behavior on macOS (both Intel and Apple Silicon builds, with both the MacBook trackpad and Magic Trackpad). It affects multiple scrollable areas (keyboard shortcuts, playlist) - not just one SMPlayer widget - so I strongly suspect that it may be related to Qt's macOS input/event handling rather than anything within SMPlayer itself. Since the current builds are using Qt 6.5.3, it would be interesting to see whether a newer Qt 6 build behaves differently, as apparently the Qt Team has tweaked a lot of changes over the Qt 6 series specific to high-resolution trackpad scrolling, wheel events, and gesture handling. I'm not suggesting changing the release baseline—just a one-off diagnostic build to help determine whether this behavior is inherited from Qt 6.5.3 or whether it's something that needs to be handled within SMPlayer itself. I'm also going to try building/testing a small independent Qt application to see if the same trackpad behavior can be reproduced outside of SMPlayer, and potentially gather more useful information for a Qt bug report if it turns out to be an upstream issue. If it's too much extra work to produce a newer Qt build, no problem. I just thought it might be a useful comparison point while these preview builds are already being tested. Kind regards! |
