Can't reproduce in any way the second problem the user describes in the issue 419 (the one about being unable to compile the plugin). The dependency that the user can't find is available to me in the corresponding repository. Makes me think the problem is within the user's OS.
I focused then on the first issue the user describes: trying to make SSL connections. I made the necessary changes to create by default the properties that are needed and passed to the schema registry to connect to it via SSL.
Note: the user has to set the correct configuration options to the schema registry instance in order to make SSL connections to it.
