Basic metadata requirements

Where these concepts are stored is dependent on the file structure used for the data

Spatial

• Coordinate Reference System (CRS)
• Coordinates pair (or geometry)
• Accuracy (if available)
• Upper and lower Depth of Sample (if available)
• Upper and lower Depth of Layer/Horizon (if available)
• Feature of interest (crop, land (site), profile, layer)

Measurements

• Observed Property (ideally with URI)
• Measurement Procedure (ideally with URI)
• Unit of Measurement (UoM)
• Sampling date

Goal

Provide recommendations for structure for a few basic file types:

• earth observation
• soil maps (predicted data)
• observation data:
  • monitoring network (time series)
  • field surveys for soil mapping
