Gitmatica is a client-side Litematica addon that brings version control to Minecraft builds. It lets you save versions of a build, inspect changes, try ideas on branches, and return to an earlier state without using Git commands.
Warning
Gitmatica 0.1.0-alpha is in an early phase. Back up important worlds
and schematics before invoking operations that change blocks or entities.
- Install Fabric Loader for Minecraft 26.2.
- Install Litematica 0.28.3 and MaLiLib 0.29.2.
- Download Gitmatica from the
latest release and
place the JAR in your instance's
modsfolder.
Gitmatica creates a project from your current Litematica area selection. There are currently two supported ways to do this.
- In the Litematica menu, set Area Selection Mode to Simple.
- Use Litematica's selection tool to set both corners around the build.
- Return to the Litematica menu and open Area Editor.
- Select Save Schematic, then Create Project.
- Enter a project name and select OK, or press Enter.
- Paste the schematic into the world and keep its placement selected.
- In the Litematica menu, set Area Selection Mode to Normal.
- Open Area Selection browser and select From Placement to create a matching area selection.
- Open Area Editor, then select Save Schematic → Create Project.
- Enter a project name and select OK, or press Enter.
The Project Manager opens when Gitmatica has captured the first version and the
project is ready. When converting a .litematic, keep its original placement
loaded and selected until this screen appears; you can then unload it.
Continue building inside the tracked area and select Save Version when you want to record a change. You can reopen projects from Project Browser in the Litematica main menu.
- Track one or more selected areas as a project.
- Save named versions and browse their history.
- Inspect changes to blocks, block states, inventories, and entities.
- Load an older version as an overlay or restore it to the world.
- Create and merge branches, or export a version as a
.litematicfile.
- Load the entire tracked area before saving or changing the world.
- Singleplayer has full access to block and entity data. Multiplayer needs compatible Servux support for the same fidelity.
- Some visible controls are not part of this alpha. See Alpha Notes for the current boundaries.
