Using Gitmatica
This page covers the main alpha workflows. Open Project Browser from Litematica's main menu, then select a project to open its Project Manager.
To create a project, define the tracked area
manually or from an existing .litematic, then
create the project from that active selection.
Gitmatica captures the selection as the first version. Existing projects appear
in Project Browser and are stored in .minecraft/gitmatica-projects/.
In Schematic Placements, select the placement of your desired project so it is focused; Gitmatica uses the focused placement to determine which project you are currently working on.
Gitmatica projects have a G icon, while regular Litematica placements have an L icon. These icons appear in both Loaded Schematics and Schematic Placements. Focusing an L placement gives you standard Litematica features and behavior only.
Select Save Version after changing the build. Give the version a short title and an optional description.
The Project Manager lists versions newest first. Select one to read its details. Use View Changes to inspect changed blocks, block states, and inventories in the tracked area.
Select a version in the history, then:
- Select Load Version to restore its tracked blocks and entities to the world.
- Hold Left Shift while selecting Load Version to load only its schematic overlay.
Restoring changes the world. Load the complete tracked area first and save any work you want to keep.
Use the branch dropdown to switch branches. Hold Left Shift while choosing a branch to load its overlay without restoring the world.
Right-click the branch dropdown to create, rename, delete, or merge branches. Save or discard current changes before switching or merging.
- Project Editor changes the placement origin and tracked sub-regions.
-
Export exports the selected version as a
.litematicto Litematica's schematics folder. - Discard Changes restores the tracked area to the current version.
- Clear Area removes all tracked blocks and entities from the world.
Caution
On a server, Discard Changes is unreliable while a build is active. Use Clear Area first, then Discard Changes.
Discarding, clearing, and restoring are destructive. Keep world backups while testing the alpha.
With Mod Menu installed, open Mods → Gitmatica → Configure. You can also open a Litematica or MaLiLib config screen and select Gitmatica from the top-right dropdown.
Use Generic for warning and debug options, or Hotkeys to configure Gitmatica shortcuts.
