By swap the positions of two parameter values to fix it.

public Criteria startsWith(String s) {
        ...
        // if error, the message contains '"<s>"*'
	assertNoBlankInWildcardQuery(s, false, true); 
	...
}

public Criteria endsWith(String s) {
        ...
	// if error, the message contains '*"<s>"'
	assertNoBlankInWildcardQuery(s, true, false);
	...
}
