Getting rid of "Permission Denied" message on start

I am using the program and I keep getting "Permission Denied" on opening any database. I can click okay and get rid of the message without further issues. Though, it would be great if I can get rid of this nuisance completely. Is there any way to do this?

Could you provide some more details please? Which OS are you on? How has this package been installed? Where is the database located? In theory, you should not get such messages, especially since it works further according to your description.

I am using Windows 7. I am not sure how I installed it. I am using version 3.12.2. This appears on any database. I even created a new database and the message appears as soon as I double click the database.

DB4S checks for a new version on startup. Have you turned off this option? Its in the preferences. 'Check for updates'.

Thanks. It seems that this fixed the issue. I am not 100% sure. I will come mark this as answer once I made sure no further messages are popping up.
