Cloning a GIT Repo

Git does not like cloning with HTTPS anymore. This will be a guide on how to set up Git on a system using SSH.

On the target system:

• ~/.ssh
• ssh-keygen -o -t rsa -C "email@example.com"
  • -o specifies the tool to generate using OpenSSH format
  • -t specifies the type of SSH keys to make
  • -C allows for comments added as metadata to the end of the public key
• cat id_rsa.pub
  • Copy this entire block into the Github SSH keys in User Settings
• Should now be able to clone using the remote SSH URL.
