Card Stack v1.2.1 - Rules Correction ✅

📝 Important Rules Clarification

I apologize for the confusion in v1.2.0. I over-corrected the rules. v1.2.1 implements the CORRECT standard card game rules.

✅ CORRECT RULES (v1.2.1)

A card CAN be played if ANY of these conditions are met:

1. Same Color

Any card matching the color of the top card

  • Example: Red 5 on Red 7 ✅

2. Same Number (Number Cards)

Number cards can match by number across colors

  • Example: Red 5 on Blue 5 ✅

3. Same Action Type ⭐ NEW/CORRECTED

Action cards can match by type regardless of color:

  • Skip on Skip (any colors) ✅
  • Reverse on Reverse (any colors) ✅
  • Draw Two on Draw Two (any colors) ✅

4. Wild Cards

Can be played on anything ✅

📋 Valid Play Examples

✅ Red Skip on Blue Skip - Same action type
✅ Green Reverse on Yellow Reverse - Same action type
✅ Blue Draw Two on Red Draw Two - Same action type
✅ Red 5 on Blue 5 - Same number
✅ Red Skip on Red 3 - Same color
✅ Wild on anything - Wild card

❌ Invalid Play Examples

❌ Red Skip on Blue 7 - Different color, different type
❌ Green Reverse on Yellow Draw Two - Different action types
❌ Blue 3 on Red 5 - Different color, different number

🔄 What Changed

v1.0.0 - v1.1.0

❌ Bug: Action cards could match ANY card of same type (too permissive)

v1.2.0

❌ Over-correction: Action cards could ONLY match by color (too restrictive)

v1.2.1 ⭐ CURRENT

✅ CORRECT: Action cards match by color OR type
✅ Follows standard card game mechanics
✅ Proper balance of strategy and fun

🎮 Why Action Card Type Matching Matters

Allowing action cards to match by type:

  • Strategic Depth: Chain multiple Skip/Reverse/Draw Two cards
  • Standard Mechanics: How classic card games work
  • Card Stacking: Multiple Draw Twos can accumulate
  • Dynamic Gameplay: More exciting and tactical
  • Better Balance: Action cards aren't too hard to play

🔧 Technical Details

Changed: Card.java - canPlayOn() method

Now checks:

  1. Wild cards (always playable)
  2. Color match (all cards)
  3. Type match for action cards (Skip, Reverse, Draw Two)
  4. Number match (number cards only)

⚠️ Upgrade from v1.2.0

v1.2.0 users should upgrade to v1.2.1 for correct rules:

  • v1.2.0 was too restrictive
  • v1.2.1 has the proper game mechanics
  • Install this APK over v1.2.0
