Help test the Android app on Google Play (closed test, 14 days)

[stan-ely]

qrdrop's Android app is on its way to Google Play, and Google asks new developers to run a closed test first: 12 people, opted in for 14 days in a row, before the app can be published. If you have an Android phone and a few minutes, you would be a real help.

It is the same app as the F-Droid and Releases APK — same code, and signed with the same key — so if you already have qrdrop installed, the Play version updates over it without uninstalling anything.

How to join

On your phone, signed in with the Google account your Play Store uses:

1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/qrdrop-testers → Join group
2. Open https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.stan_ely.qrdrop and tap Become a tester
3. Install: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stan_ely.qrdrop

If the opt-in page says you are not eligible, the group was almost certainly joined with a different Google account than the one Play uses — a common thing on a phone with two accounts. Join again with the Play one. It can take a few minutes after joining before the page lets you in.

What helps most

• Stay opted in for 14 days. Leaving the group or the test restarts the count.
• Use it once or twice for real — send a file and receive one. Any second device works, including a laptop at https://share.stan-ely.com. Beam (the no-network mode) is worth one try too.
• Say how it went, here in the comments or in an issue. A sentence is plenty; "I got confused at X" is exactly the kind of thing I am after.

Google only sees your Play account as a tester; qrdrop itself collects nothing (privacy policy). Thank you!
