Quick genuine question: is Version 4 actually something in development, or more of a concept we collectively believe in?
Asking because some very experimental, cutting-edge ideas have only been floating around for… 5–7+ years now to name some:
Multiple notes open (tabs / side-by-side)
Multiple panes / windows for editing
Remembering scroll position when switching notes
General editor consistency / less fragmentation between editors
UI refresh / modernization (this one keeps coming up a lot)
Easier note sharing / basic usability improvements
Nothing too wild , just the kind of stuff people have been politely asking for since ~2019… repeatedly.
What makes it a bit surreal is that many of these have been tied to “v4” for years, while at the same time:
v4 hasn’t had a clear timeline
at points it wasn’t even started
and there’s still no clear signal where it stands today
So I guess the real question is:
Is v4 an actual upcoming version, or has it quietly become a placeholder for “features we agree would be nice someday”?
Not asking for promises , just clarity.
Because at this point, the features aren’t just encrypted… they’re starting to feel historically preserved 🙂
