Confirmed. libpng has moved the 1.6.30 release into the "older-releases" subdirectory on Sourceforge, and the shell script doesn't check for a 404. Just update build/versions.sh with: export VERSION_PNG16=1.6.34.

Of course, that leads to an error compiling xslt missing libxml2. I'm beginning to think relying on this package may be a mistake if it's not maintained.

I agree you should not rely on it. I mean, it is just some guy, working on it in his spare time because he thought it was fun and he made it public in case other people wanted to play with it too.

So, if you want to play, submit a pull request, I would be glad to review it. Or fork it, and maintain it yourself. Otherwise, I will resolve the issue(s) at some point when I have time and inclination.

Oh man ... now that we have Layers in Lambda we are no longer doing anything with this at all. If you are looking for libvips on lambda I recommend taking a look at https://github.com/stechstudio/bref-extensions instead. That is where I am compiling ghostscript, vips, etc. for Lambda these days. Should be relatively easy for you to just include that layer and access the tools there. Or if you like to build your own, fork it and modify it to your needs!

Thanks! I struggled for a few days looking thru those and other examples and learned that using the Lambda Docker containers made it really easy to use Libvips. Here is my work if you are interested. Cheers!
