Storybook 11 Release Plan

Hello Storybook Community,

Storybook 11 is underway! This release makes Storybook agent-ready, with MCP, skills, ADE plugins, and agentic development support for React, Vue, Angular, Svelte and Web Components. Storybook 11 also removes previously deprecated APIs and components, which we already listed in our work-in-progress migration guide.

Storybook 11 comes with architectural changes for agent support, which community frameworks can choose to adopt. We will get in touch with addon authors and popular community framework authors to provide more tailored migration guidance.

Below is the timeline we are working towards. We will update this if anything were to change. In the meantime, you can try out the latest Storybook 11 prerelease:

🚧 Alpha (current phase)

Alpha 0 shipped on: September 2, 2026

This is the initial preview of Storybook 11. During this phase, expect frequent prereleases with new features and breaking changes.

⏳ Web Components agentic support Alpha

Target ship date: October 5, 2026

This will be the first alpha package with agentic support for Web Components.

⏳ Svelte agentic support Alpha

Target ship date: October 12, 2026

This will be the first alpha package with agentic support for Svelte and SvelteKit.

⏳ Beta

Target ship date: October 20, 2026

Once we are feature complete, Storybook 11 Beta will be released. This release incorporates all breaking changes and new features in 11.0; the documentation and migration guide will also be complete by then. The focus during the beta phase is on refinements and bug squashing. We encourage users to start migrating on their own projects at this phase; any feedback and bug reports will be very, very helpful!

⏳ Release Candidate

Target ship date: November 3, 2026

At the Release Candidate (RC) stage, Storybook 11 should be stable enough for users to migrate to in production. We will coordinate a round of public QA with the Storybook community, addressing any final bugs as we collectively test the upgrade on our projects.
