Ohh you mean the Street Name Quest. In the city where I live, almost every street has a name. Infact, the Street Names are so weird, they're somewhat hard to forget🤣. In the event the street names are not known by many, people resort to using landmarks for navigation. But the street names are quite easy to find i.e all shops have the street address written on their boards (together with the building no.). Now obviously I am speaking for the urban areas, and the post does refer to rural areas. IMO the majority of mappers in India would definitely be from urban areas, so the best option for the said person would be, just to select "it has no name", like you suggested on Reddit. |

Yes, I was the poster on reddit and I am from a rural area and no there are no names of streets anywhere near me even in a town near me the street are named by where it leads or what on the street (semi-officially) like for eg. xyz market road, xyz temple road, govt school road. Some villages doesnt even have proper house numbers, Well its not a issue for anyone irl but it can be a bit of issue for a mapping database(or not?!). Any questions? Ask me. Thanks, Have a great day! |

Hi, I have heard that many roads in India do not have names, and instead locals use local landmarks to navigate. This reddit post made me think this should maybe influence our quest.
@Amaanprobably , maybe you could give some insight here? How common are named roads in India? Is it reasonable to ask users about every road? Does this differ by state? Do you think the quest should be disabled in India?
