model picker closing after first keystroke

When trying to use the models slash command, the picker closes instantly upon the first keystroke. Below is a video of trying using various keystrokes.

This behavior does NOT happen on fa2d000

This behavior is observed on bb87caa

I am experiencing the same issue.
I tested several previous version and found out that this commit is the one introducing the bug.
