Broken link in Join-Development Page

Description

We used to have a place to show contributors to Sugar Labs by going to Sugar Labs profiles, which is great for showing who is currently involved.

The current website(old version) has that, but it's broken. The new one(v2) has this link under "Who are the developers of Sugar Labs?"

So do we port this? Or retire the need for it entirely?

@samswag I've noticed that the link is broken. To fix it, we would need to create a new page. However, I'm wondering if it's really necessary to have that page at all. @pikurasa Do you have any suggestions on this issue?

The profiles page was quite a bit of work to keep up-to-date.

I am recommending that we retire the page.

We might point people to the SL wiki users page. That is probably the most up-to-date record of contributors. https://github.com/orgs/sugarlabs/people is another option, but it is only showing select members.

I was wondering cant we fetch the data in real time from github api who has contributed ?

yo peeps, nice website btw, for this issue why not create a realtime updating page, fetching from github api is good ig here

it accurately gives 20 objects, maybe we can create a separate page or however you guys like, redesign old etc. Retiring and redirecting to wiki is old school. use github api for all repos and maybe consolidate all to get a full fledged array.

before anything let me show you something @sa-fw-an , its possible and its easy to realtime fetch all contributors. But 2 problems:

1. how will you show in ui 916 contributors
2. you need to modify db to actually store all these and fetch from db next time, api can be used only for fetching users which are not in the db. maybe add redis caching somewhere to quick fetch.

here's the list i was able to extract:

@ARYPROGRAMMER, you don’t need a database or anything—it’s really simple. Create a script that updates contributor-list.json every 12 or 24 hours and pushes it to the repository. Then create a page that renders the JSON file in alphabetical order. A better approach would be to fetch the data directly from the GitHub API and render it alphabetically. We need not worry about the number of contributors.
