About the Selection Floating Toolbar and Other Issues

1. Allow customizing buttons on this floating toolbar, same as the main toolbar in the latest release — users should be able to add or remove buttons.
2. Support URL actions for buttons on both the main toolbar and the selection floating toolbar. This is critical, since it unlocks many external enhancement features: custom AI Chat, Anki card creation, dictionary lookup, translation, TTS, and so on.
3. If the above‑mentioned features cannot be implemented for the floating toolbar, would it be possible as a compromise to provide the {$selectionPosition} placeholder in SelectionHandlers URLs?

Issues found in the latest Pre-release build:

1. URLs within SelectionHandlers have stopped working. They worked fine in the Pre-release 3.7.21481.
2. SVG icons are opaque.
3. Underline markup lines are offset upward when they appear on the right side of the page.
4. The "Delete Annotation" button in the annotation‑editing window has incorrect height (only happens with the Chinese UI).

Additional note:
I’ve developed a SumartPDF Helper EXE. It remains anchor to the right side of the toolbar and offers AI Chat (with custom prompts), dictionary lookup, Anki card creation and TTS features.

Try to keep to one issue at a time but to answer the first 1 2 3 in general

1. the floating toolbar does take URL icons, and they are only opaque if you do not use the correct SVG sections.
   These on the main toolbar all took time to correctly set the transparency, since each use different SVG syntax

If you mean when you add to context bar they look like

That is a very awkward size and colouration but here is a suggested re definition of the SVG for the floating toolbar but you need to define the other parts or use on the main toolbar with ExternalViewers

The SVG related issue is not important to me personally; I was just testing it， I can use text button.

In addition, it is not possible to apply colored underlines to {Selection} via URL. There is a bug in SumatraPDF 3.6 DDE where spaces are not supported inside commands. Therefore, custom colored underlines such as blue underline can only be defined on the toolbar.

For your desired custom layout include the separation after PageInfo and to see read aloud it must be set true

DDE is a decades old Microsoft / Adobe control system that must also be crafted in its own way and that can be difficult but not impossible to use with spaces and \" but it should not be a "bug"

URLS cannot generally include underline as not ANSI/ASCII but if using UTF characters they must be URL encoded
unless you KNOW the Unicode point the closest would be %55%CC%B2 but that is not standard

For the high overstrike underline that will be most visible in Chinese characters or those that do not include "descenders" I have raised an issue as #6023
Note that there are no normal underlines for PDF characters simply a LOW under strike.

I believe we should refer to the system font's style metrics. Check whether the current selection contains any of the characters g, j, p, q, y, Q. If none are present, add a small offset to the Rect's Bottom value.

Three items from this thread are in the latest pre-release source (master):

${selectionPosition} in SelectionHandlers URL, Exe and POST Body. It expands to the selection bounding box in screen pixels as x,y,dx,dy, so a helper exe can sit next to the selection. Empty when there is no selection. Case-insensitive (${selectionposition} also works).

SelectionToolbarLayout chooses and orders the floating toolbar's built-in buttons, same idea as ToolbarCustomLayout:

Leave a command out to hide that button. Empty (the default) keeps the standard set. SelectionHandlers with SelectToolbarNameOrSvg still appear at the end.

ToolbarText / ToolbarSvgIcon on a SelectionHandlers entry put that handler on the main toolbar (same as ExternalViewers). If both are set, the icon is used.

I know that e.g. there is a popular Chinese dictionary that people want to integrate with but I don't know much about it (how to invoke etc.) so if you can provide detailed information about this, I can add built-in integration in SumatraPDF

1. Chat‑with‑prompt workflow: First install the Vimium browser plugin and set the mapping map <c‑s‑h> to focusInput. Next, activate the browser, then send hotkeys(g+i, ESC, CTRL+V, Enter) on the current tab page to paste my prompt. And without Vimium you also could use Ctrl+Shift+K/J for most AI web page to start a new chat.
2. For dictionary functionality: For a lightweight implementation, use the URL Scheme eudic://dict/%s to launch the local Eudic dictionary. For an advanced implementation, refer to Saladict (https://github.com/crimx/ext‑saladict): parse required data from online dictionaries and reorganize it afterwards.
3. The built‑in translation and AI Chat features of SumatraPDF are largely unusable for users in China.
4. For local TTS, I use sherpa‑onnx + kokoro‑multi‑lang‑v1_0. However, its speed is too slow, nowhere near as good as online alternatives. For online TTS, I use Microsoft high‑quality cloud speech. The approach is fairly straightforward: generate a minimal HTML file with a fixed filename, and open it via msedge.exe. If this file is already open, simply send the hotkey F5 to refresh it, followed by the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+U to trigger playback.
5. My default Browser is Google Chrome, so I use it with AI Chat, and I use msedge for TTS.
