For Navidrome at least, if you add the sort name tags, Supersonic will use those when sorting artists by name

Do I need to do something to enable that, because that isn't happening for me. As in, I have the sort tag set but it isn't sorting properly

Sorry for the late reply - it looks like Navidrome added sort name to the response in a commit dated oct 2024. So if you're on the latest Navidrome I assume it will be working now

I realize this topic is old, but I'm commenting because I see that Navidrome doesn't seem to support the albumsortorder tag to allow us to specify a sort title for an album. Therefore Supersonic sorts albums that start with "The" under "T". It would be nice if Supersonic followed standard alphabetization rules and ignored articles (The, A, An, etc.), or there was an option to do so.

Interestingly, when I change my albums and add the albumsort tag, Navidrome doesn't recognize it and Supersonic still sorts all the albums starting with "The" between S and U.

So maybe it's best if Supersonic ignores articles.

I realized that in the case of sorting an artist's albums on their discography page (which is a client-side sort), I was not using the SortName. Just about to push an update to fix that. Everywhere else albums are sorted, the sorting is done server-side. There is a Navidrome config option PreferSortTags that you may have to enable to have the main albums list sorted by sort tags.
