somewhat of a long term thing. There is a new (not that new) initiative to standardize markdown (http://standardmarkdown.com). So we should keep an eye on it, and check whether we generate something that meets the recommended markdown.

could take the form of an additional test to run against sample_output content.

let's see it it gets some adoption first.
