The app is showed as "designed for phone" only and cannot be installed on tablet. Need a fix.

did

• updated screenshots for 7" and 10" tablets in the google play store
• looked at the Tablet App Quality guideline. updated Manifest with

<supports-screens
  android:largeScreens="true"
  android:xlargeScreens="true"
/>

• changed the minSDK from 8 to 11. (Android 2.2 not supported any more. may handle it with multiple builds/apks).
• increment versioncode in manifest by 1.

But it does not seem to solve the problem.

used aapt to list content of the apk file. found out that layout-xlarge and layout-large were not included. copied layout files from the layout directory to the two directories.
