[BUG] Snippet edits are not saved before the second attempt

Fantastic VS Code extension. Thank you for sharing it with the community.

At least on my system, macOS 14.2.1 (23C71), if I edit a previously saved snippet and I click the Save button, the new edits are ignored. I have to edit it again, save it again, and only then, after this second attempt, the edits are saved as expected.

Hi Tahabasri , first , thank you for your so useful extension !

I experience as well my changes not saved at first. Perhaps I found a clue who could help to fix:

i create from clipboard , then add a label, then right click to edit the snippet.
I open the Advanced options, then I type a value in Snippet Prefix.
If I save directly , it will not be saved at all.

However if after typing in the field , I first click in another field, I guess it probably trigger the value of Snippet Prefix field to be written in memory , cause then if I save, it will work.

Same behavior for filling the field Snippet Description: after typing I must click in another field so what I typed i guess is written in memory , and then only i can save and it work.

However, for the field Snippet Language Scope who doesn't save the first time as well, i don't have an explanation. As this dropdown menu should save in memory after we clicked on a language (which close the menu and therefore should write in memory).

I hope these infos will help you a bit.

PS: for the fields Snippet Description and Snippet Prefix , it seems that the tooltip text in both [?] buttons has been exchanged by mistake, you might want to exchange them back.

Thanks @christophegourmand for the feedback and the analysis! I added some adjustments to the logic probably causing this issue. This is tricky as I can't reproduce it in couple of laptops I own. I'd like to ask you assistance by testing the latest version attached here and check if it solves the issues you're having (beta version, not live).

Here are the steps:

• IMPORTANT!!! Export your snippets in order to keep them safe
• Uninstall existing extension installation
• Extract the file downloaded
• Locate and install the new version from the menu Install from VSIX...
  
• Go the output panel and select Snippets from the Output picklist, this will help show logs when you're interacting with the extension.
  
• Select Trace from the Level menu
  
• Restart VS Code.
• If the Snippets list is empty, import your original snippets (using the original backup you made)
• Try to reproduce the issue described.
