v2.8.0
492555a

Maintenance release. Fork continuation of the abandoned footnotes plugin.

Compatibility fixes over 2.7.3:

  • i18n: load the textdomain on init (fixes _load_textdomain_just_in_time notice on every admin page under WordPress 6.7+, which broke admin rendering)
  • i18n: construct the reference container widget lazily on widgets_init (same class of bug, second instance)
  • editor: guard Classic Editor QTags registration with typeof (previously threw ReferenceError when Quicktags was absent)

Requires PHP 8.0+; tested up to WordPress 6.7. Both core fixes are WitDiff-verified.
