LIBRE-HACKTIVATOR_iOS_12-16 is an open-source tool to bypass restrictions on iPhones and iPads running iOS versions 12 through 16. It helps you with unlocking devices that are locked due to mobile device management (MDM), activation lock, iCloud lock, setup restrictions, or enrollment locks.

This toolkit works on certain iPhone and iPad models built with A8 to A11 chips. These devices have a security weakness called "checkm8." LIBRE-HACKTIVATOR uses this weakness with existing jailbreak methods called checkra1n or palera1n, and tools from libimobiledevice, to unlock or bypass restrictions. This can be useful in unlocking devices for legitimate purposes or security research.

Before you start, make sure your computer and device meet these requirements:

• Supported computers: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit)
• Device compatibility: iPhones or iPads with A8, A9, A10, or A11 chips (e.g., iPhone 6s, 7, 8, iPad Air 2, iPad 5/6th gen)
• iOS versions: 12.0 to 16.x installed on your device
• Connectivity: USB cable to connect your iPhone or iPad to the Windows PC
• Power: Ensure your device has at least 50% battery or is connected to power during the process
• Software: Latest Apple iTunes installed for drivers or Apple Mobile Device Support included
• Permissions: Run the tool with administrator rights on Windows to ensure full access

The tool uses a known security vulnerability called checkm8 present on certain models to launch a jailbreak called checkra1n or palera1n. Jailbreaking allows running custom code on the device. Then libimobiledevice scripts handle unlocking tasks, removing activation lock, or bypassing MDM.

This process automates many complex steps that would otherwise require manual command-line work, making it easier for users without technical skills to unlock and use their devices.

Go to the official GitHub page to download the necessary files.

On this page, look for a section named Releases or folders marked for latest stable version. Download the file suited for Windows. This is usually a ZIP or EXE file.

1. Make sure iTunes or Apple Mobile Device Support is installed. This ensures your PC can communicate with your iPhone or iPad.
2. Disable antivirus temporarily if it blocks running unknown apps.
3. Connect your iPhone or iPad via USB cable to your PC.
4. Unlock the device and, if asked, tap "Trust this Computer" on the device screen.

• If you downloaded a ZIP file, right-click it and select Extract All.
• Inside the extracted folder, look for an executable (EXE) file.
• Right-click the EXE file and choose Run as Administrator to start it.

Running as administrator lets the tool use all necessary system permissions to work properly.

Once the tool opens, it will guide you through the steps needed:

• It may prompt you to put your device in DFU mode (a special recovery mode needed for exploit)
• The tool will then run checkra1n or palera1n jailbreak automatically
• Next, it proceeds with bypass or unlock steps specific to your chosen task (MDM, activation lock, etc.)
• Wait patiently while the tool processes these actions. It may take some minutes depending on your device and iOS version

After the tool completes, your device should bypass restrictions as requested:

• You should be able to access the home screen without activation or MDM blocks.
• If you encounter any errors, restart the device and PC, then try the process again.
• Avoid disconnecting your device during the process.

Check back regularly on the GitHub page for bug fixes or new versions. New updates may include support for newer iOS versions or device models.

• If the device does not enter DFU mode, carefully follow the step-by-step instructions shown by the tool. Different devices require different button presses.
• Ensure your USB cable and port are working correctly. Try a different cable or USB port if needed.
• Restart your PC and device if the tool freezes or fails to detect the device.
• Antivirus or firewall software can interfere. Temporarily disable these software before running the tool.
• Verify that your device has a battery charge over 50% to avoid shutdown mid-process.
