Gameplay
Invisible doors periodically appear near you in the Overworld — there's no block, no visual marker, just a spot in the world. Walk into one and you're pulled into the Infinite Corridor, with a portal sound and particles marking the crossing.
The corridor is a separate dimension, generated one room per chunk as you explore. Every room connects to its four neighbors, so you can walk from room to room indefinitely. Rooms come in a few themes, chosen semi-randomly per room:
- Cobblestone halls — huge cobblestone rooms with stairs that climb up and dead-end into the ceiling, going nowhere.
- Birch forest — an endless, walled-in birch forest with no real sky.
- Distorted structures — warped stone-brick rooms that unlock once your world's corruption reaches stage 2, sometimes containing a loot chest (see below).
- The Source Room — a fixed room, always at the same location in the corridor, that only appears once your corruption reaches maximum stage. It holds the Corrupted Core (see Ending It).
There's no monster you'll ever see rendered. Instead, the longer you stay in the corridor, the more "dread" builds up:
- Distant heartbeat and ambient sounds get more frequent.
- Screen darkness pulses at high dread.
- Rare, silent glimpses of a figure in the distance that vanishes again after a few seconds.
Dread resets when you leave the corridor.
While exploring the corridor, you'll occasionally find written books left behind by whoever came through before you. They're just text — read them for hints about what's going on.
Your world tracks a corruption stage (0–5) that rises based on how many doors you've triggered, how many rooms you've explored, how long you've spent in the corridor, and how many lore books you've found. Higher corruption:
- Unlocks Distorted Structure rooms (stage 2+) and eventually the Source Room (stage 5).
- Makes the corridor stranger and more hazardous overall.
Sigil Fragments are the key ritual item. You can find them:
- As rare loot (1–2 per chest, roughly 1-in-5 chance) in Distorted Structure rooms.
Sigil Fragments can also be crafted into a Corruption Flower — a decorative plant that emits more black particles the further your world's corruption has progressed. Recipe: a Sigil Fragment on top of a Stick.
Once your corruption reaches maximum stage, the Source Room becomes reachable in the corridor. Bring 3 Sigil Fragments to the Corrupted Core inside it and use them on the block. This collapses the corridor's corruption back to zero, seals all active doors, and teleports you back to the last spot you stepped through a door from.
Op-only (requires the gamemaster permission, same as /gamemode):
| Command | Effect |
|---|---|
/liminalistic corruption set <0-5> |
Directly set your world's corruption stage, skipping the grind — useful for testing the Source Room and ritual. |
/liminalistic door summon |
Opens a door 2 blocks in front of you (must be run from the Overworld), instead of waiting for one to spawn naturally. |
