Where does the four-stance lens *fail* in your field?

The project claims that fields built on one self-undermining founding move tend to produce four stances toward the gap that move leaves open: work inside it, spread it around, exploit it, or refuse it (in music: Bach, equal temperament, Coltrane, Schoenberg).

I am most interested in where this breaks. If you work in -- or just know well -- film, architecture, painting, software, physics, poetry, anything: where does this lens distort more than it reveals? What does it miss, flatten, or force? Counterexamples are more useful to me than confirmations.
