theprototype.app is a collaborative 3D prototyping app that runs entirely in the browser — peer-to-peer, no account, no server holding your scene. Build together on desktop or in VR, wire behavior with node graphs, turn on physics, and share a room with a link.

Roadmap (near-term)

• v1.1 — landing soon: a hosted AI tier (sign in and the scene assistant + text-to-3D work with zero configuration — or keep bringing your own endpoint), a better mesh editor, AI-assisted flow physics tools.
• After that: community scene gallery, monthly build challenges (winning scenes get featured in the app), and whatever you convince us of here.

This project went public on 2026-07-30 after starting life as a SvelteHack 2024 entry — expect fast iteration and honest release notes.

Contributing

• Start with CONTRIBUTING.md and the good first issue label.
• The repo is unusually agent-friendly: CLAUDE.md conventions, a committed Playwright e2e suite, a module SDK and /llms.txt — vibe-coding a module is a genuine one-evening project (MODULES.md).
