Solix Expansion battery overview

This discussion is used to document the various Solix Expansion batteries to determine whether they have a common product code which can be used to determine the Expansion type and its capacity.

Typically each device supports only a single type of expansion with their defined capacity. The number of installed expansions can be determined from Api or MQTT data and with that information, the overall installed capacity can be calculated.
However, some devices like the Solarbank 2, 3, and 4 can intermix the expansion batteries and each of the types has a different capacity. Therefore it is not possible to determine which expansion types are installed in a Solarbank System, since the expansions do neither report their capacity, nor do they own a dedicated model type which they could report.

Solix Model number format

All system model numbers follow the same naming pattern. The example model number below indicates the EU region, an 800W rated power, and one expansion battery.

Solix product code

The Solix device serial contains a product code, that may be usable to recognize the installed expansion type. The code can be extracted from the serial by following rules:

• 16-digit SN: Characters 4-6 (3 characters)
• 17-digit SN: Characters 4-7 (4 characters)

It appears real serials for the Expansion batteries were just introduced with BP2700. Solarbank 2 expansions report empty SN fields, but an unusual Serial in another field, which may be the BMS or anything else. Various codes have been extracted from such BP1600, some of them have the 5-6 character in common.

Conclusion

So it can be assumed that BP5000 and BP2700 are recognizable from their fix product code, anything else must be assumed to be BP1600?

I hope I can help and provide the correct information here.

My BP5000 has the serial number AE1BS2604070xxx. Based on that, the product code could be S26 or S260.

However, I do not have enough experience with this system to be certain.

The number of SN chars is important, is it 16 or 17? In you example I see just 15, so your SN masking seems incomplete and shows an invalid SN format.

The BP1600 was the only Solarbank expansion I found which does not have a real device SN in the MQTT data, but just a controller / MCU/BMS SN field and that may show just 15 chars for BP1600.
Newer expansion have both, the device_sn field and the controller_sn field, where the controller_sn is typically the same as the device_sn but ould have an extra char, especially if the SN is just 16 chars.

Thanks, but no need to reveal to full SN, I masked the non relevant part, important is the number of chars, and maybe the last one since that could simply be expanded by the app, e.g. for BP1600 which has only 15 chars, but App adds 0 to make it a standard SN format.

Nevertheless, since BP1600 has no real device SN, they have no unique product code in their SN, only the x24 seems to be common for multiple findings, but not for all.

Additional details from a Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro setup.

Battery information:

BP5000 Expansion Battery SN shown in the Anker App:ASKDMVSxxxxxxxxxx

MQTT does however report two internal expansion serials:

AE1BM26xxxxxxxxxx – 53%, 25 °C
AE1BS26xxxxxxxxxx – 51%, 21 °C

So the two internal serials indeed differ (AE1BM26/ AE1BS26). MQTT also reports sw_expansion = 0.3.4.1.
