Suggestion: Daily Notes

Hi, first I want to say that Poznote is amazing!

I just wanted to suggest adding a "Daily Notes" feature? Perhaps a new type of category, possibly with the option to create a date-stamped note in that category whenever a user logs in?

If Poznote had this feature it would easily replace Obsidian and Logseq for me!

Before I develop a dedicated Daily Notes feature, I'd like to check whether the existing building blocks already cover your workflow:

• Date in the title: when creating a note, you can type / in the title field and pick Date, it opens a date picker and stamps the title with the chosen date. So creating today's journal note is just "new note + /date + Enter".
• Opening notes by day: the mini calendar lets you click on any day and open the notes created on that date.

Would that be enough for your workflow, or is the automatic creation on login the important part for you?

Also, could you share a few screenshots of how you use Daily Notes in Obsidian or Logseq, how it's used day to day and what it looks like? That would really help me understand the expected experience and what's missing in Poznote before deciding how to build it.

I hadn't found the /date thing! That solves most of my issues actually!

As for opening notes day by day, that's where things start to differ between Obsidian and Logseq. Obsidian uses a single file for each day and each one is accessed individually. I think there have been attempts by various plugins to make Daily Notes appear as one long journal view, but I've never had much luck with them.

Logseq on the other hand, still uses individual files, but by default, displays them as one long journal-type interface, with older notes being placed underneath the newest note in the stream. There is a good Logseq demo at https://demo.logseq.com which shows you what I mean.

Using the /date method works, but I think it would be a good feature to have. Perhaps as a separate category under the "Create" menu?

I think this would fir more under "nice to have" rather than the "is essential" 🙂

Ok thanks so much for your quick response. I added it to the todolist and will try to create something nice but not for now as I'm going to have some vacations so need to prioritize a bit. So if it is not that urgent. 😊

Hi @ConercaoAlpha and @timothepoznanski There are probably a number of good use cases for a Diary (Daily Notes) type of feature. One basically needs a dedicated Diary folder with sub-folders for year (Diary -> 2026 -> 12). Poznote already has a great Dashboard feature (which I really like and use on a regular basis).

What about a dedicated button at the top next to 'Diary, Notes, Workspace, Account' and there is your Diary in beautiful card view.

It just needs a new 'diary create entry' button to create a new note in the correct place with the date as the title.

I guess not essential at this state but I just wanted to add my view on a easy solution.

That sound exciting. There are opportunities to make the dashboard a real gem in PN.
(I love the idea of having the first image of a note visible in the card as a thumbnail) Sorry, just thinking too far ahead....

Hi Tim @timothepoznanski , that's great and should satisfy all the dedicated diary writers. May I make a little suggestion for the not-so-dedicated-and-lazy-writers?

1. The ability to change the entry date so the note is displayed at the day of happening (and not necessarily the day it was created).
2. An easy way of creating a diary entry for a specific day could be by reusing the popup dialogue in the calendar. Clicking the day brings up the dialogue with the entries for that day (very useful function btw). Just add the option to create a diary entry for that day.

Perhaps @ConercaoAlpha has a comment on this as well.

Sounds like a good idea. There is already a calendar available on the bottom left.

So I'd suggest clicking on a date would display that date's note. If there is no note, it creates one?

Not quite sure how you'd work that in though!
