How to create an ArenaTOW Arena

Currently there is no Video Tutorial but there will be one included here soon!

Below, we have our basic map. I'll be referring to it for convenience sake.

Map Basic

First Step - Creating Arena and Player Spawns

  • The first step is to create the arena and add the respective player spawns.
  • Going to the location indicated below with a "1" I'll use the following command:
  • "/tow create myArena"
  • This simultaneously creates the arena and sets the red teams spawn.
  • Next I'll move to the location indicated below with a "2" and use:
  • "/tow alter arena 2"
  • This will add the Blue teams spot to the location

Second Step - Adding Towers

  • Now we are going to add Towers to the arena, starting with the red team's towers
  • For each of the locations indicated below with red numbers, I'll use the following command:
  • "/tow add tower red (location#) myArena"
  • To clarify the above, at the location with a 2 I would put "/tow add tower red 2 myArena"
  • Note that there doesn't have to be six locations. Theoretically, you can have indefinite amount, but it will undoubtedly slow down your server.
  • Now we are going to repeat the process above with the blue numbers, except this time, the command changes to:
  • "/tow add tower blue (location#) myArena"

Third Step - Adding Nexus

  • Now we'll add 2 Nexi to the arena. Note that the order that Nexus, Towers, and Spawner are added doesn't matter.
  • at the blue "*" We'll enter:
  • "/tow add nexus blue myArena"
  • at the red "*" We'll enter:
  • "/tow add nexus red myArena"
  • This will create the two arena Nexi.

Fourth Step - Adding Minion Spawners

  • This is arguably the most difficult step because we also have to add pathpoints for each spawner. I recommend using signs to temporarily label each spawner so that when it comes to adding pathpoints there is no confusion.
  • So first thing we'll do is add 3 blue spawners at the three blue numbers below using:
  • "/tow add spawner blue (location#) myArena"
  • make sure you labeled each spawner with signs that say something like "blue spawner #1"
  • Now we're going to add 3 red spawners at the 3 red numbers with the following:
  • "/tow add spawner red (location#) myArena"
  • You're now caught up to the below picture:

  • Once we've added all of the spawners, its time to add pathpoints.
  • For each spawner, the zombies that come out of it need to know how to get to the opposite team's nexus. To do this we make a sort of breadcrumb trail for them. Note that adding more points will not significantly reduce performance as long as they are between 5-10 blocks apart, however it is better to make them further from each other rather than nearer. That being said, they MUST be within 10 block distance or an error will appear telling you to move closer to the previously placed pathpoint.
  • Lets get started. I will explain the first few in detail then hopefully you'll get the pattern:
  • Go to the blue number "1" and move about 10 blocks down the path to the pale blue number "1.1".
  • Use: "/tow add pathpoint blue 1 myArena".
  • In the previous command, "blue" refers to the spawner color, and "1" refers to the spawner ID. you just created the first pathpoint for "Blue Spawner #1" that was created earlier.
  • Move about 10 more blocks down the path to the pale blue "1.2".
  • Use "/tow add pathpoint blue 1 myArena".
  • Notice that the command didn't change but the message displayed did. You have now created the second pathpoint for "Blue Spawner #1".
  • Repeat the command above, 10 blocks at a time, all the way to the enemies nexus. Once you've done this you've caught up to the picture below and can move on to the next spawners.

  • When we move to adding the pathpoints for the next blue spawner, only one part of the step changes. Instead of using "/tow add pathpoint blue 1 myArena", you'll use:
  • "/tow add pathpoint blue 2 myArena"
  • now you are referring to "Blue Spawner #2"
  • Once again you'll keep repeating the command about 10 blocks from each spot all the way to the nexus.
  • Now add pathpoints for "Blue Spawner #3" with:
  • "/tow add pathpoint blue 3 myArena"
  • Now add pathpoints for the red spawners with:
  • "/tow add pathpoint red (location#) myArena"
  • And there! now you've added all of your pathpoints.
  • Note that you can't remove individual pathpoints, you have to remove the spawner they're associated with to clear them all.

Fifth Step - Adding Deathrooms

  • The purpose of deathrooms is too have a place for players to wait while their respawn timer is counting down. Therefore, this location should not allow the players to come in contact with dead players of the other team nor live players that are still playing. In the picture below I put the deathrooms outside the area.
  • Use "/tow add deathroom blue myArena" to add the blue one and
  • Use "/tow add deathroom red myArena" to add the red one.
