Workers are hired at the Inn and run their own sessions independently while you play. They gather resources, craft items, bury bones, or craft runes on your behalf, and you collect their rewards from the Home screen just like any other session. There are four tiers, and choosing between them is really about what you need the worker for. Long Laborer (10,000 coins) is the budget pick for when you have a monster crafting queue. He works at normal speed and takes the full 8 hours for gathering, but the key thing about him is that there is no cap on how many items you can queue for crafting, prayer, or runecrafting. If you have 3,000 bones sitting around and don't want to clog up your own queue, hand them to the Long Laborer and walk away. He is not efficient, but he is patient. Apprentice (20,000 coins) is similar to the Long Laborer in most ways, also 8 hours and normal speed, but he comes with a 480-item cap on crafting sessions. That covers most reasonable workloads. If you are just trying to smelt some bars or cook a stack of fish, the Apprentice handles it cleanly over the Long Laborer. Journeyman (50,000 coins) is where things start to feel premium. He finishes in 6 hours instead of 8, but thanks to his 1.25x efficiency bonus he brings home about the same amount of loot as the slower workers in less time. Think of it as getting nearly a full session's worth of materials but being able to send him out again two hours sooner. His crafting cap sits at 360 items, which is plenty for most sessions. Master (200,000 coins) is the top tier and the biggest quality-of-life upgrade in the game. He runs a 4-hour session with 2x efficiency, meaning he produces the same haul as an 8-hour normal session in half the time. If you are playing actively and want to collect and resend as often as possible, the Master keeps up with you. The tradeoff is the price tag and a 240-item crafting cap, so he is not the right tool for marathon crafting queues. That is what the Long Laborer is for. The short version: use the Long Laborer for huge crafting jobs, the Apprentice for everyday tasks on a budget or for overnight gathering sessions, the Journeyman when you want solid gathering returns and a shorter wait, and the Master when you are playing hard and want maximum throughput. |
