Self upgrade feature is needed

Self upgrade feature is needed, let's discuss first.
The app should check  for new updates periodically. 
Period  should be configurable through ENV.  
I am thinking of a new notification bar in the admin dashboard which indicates a new version is available. 
Lets discuss to find the best solution
