ImportError: No module named...

Dear Frederik,
I am trying to import some modules like csv or decimal, but Drawbot doesn't find them. Libraries installed with pip (like reportlab for example) or installed in the site-packages folder with the setup.py procedure work.

I can import csv or decimal using Terminal, Nodebox1 or Robofont scripting panel.
Any suggestion?

Hi

Not all default python packages are embedded, this would make the app extremely big… However packages installed in your default python site-package are importable. The default python is the one which is responding to python in terminal.

DrawBot is built with python 2.7. If you default python has on other version it can cause import issues for compiled packages, like PIL…

I can only speak for RoboFont: decimal is not embedded but csv is. Maybe csv is handy to embedded, so large data can easily be imported, will think about it…

A dirty hack could be to add the path to the default python packages to the sys.path. Im not sure if this could damage the normal behavior of DrawBot.

sys.path.append("/System/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/python2.7/")

I tried the hack you suggested me, but it doesn't work.

The csv module can be really useful in Drawbot. I use often tables in order to plot statistical graphics.

Hi, I'm having the same issue while trying to install PageBot.
Is there a way to add modules manually after the installation of Drawbot? A symlink somewhere or something?

Modules installed under the OS version of Python 2.7 are visible within DrawBot, after a restart of the app.

(There is a known issue with numpy/scipy, though: see #100)
