Self-diagnose the proper functioning of uBO Lite (uBOL).

Default filtering mode

The default filtering mode of uBOL is meant to be optimal In optimal mode, some ad placeholders may remain. Switch to complete mode for that site to hide them.

When the default mode is basic, uBOL will still filter network requests, but will not apply cosmetic- or scriptlet-based filters.

The default filtering mode automatically switches back to basic

This happens if you do not give uBOL the permissions to "read and change" data on all websites by default:

Safari: uBOL does not filter anything

This happens if you do not allow content blockers in Safari. You need to be sure the "Content Blockers" setting is enabled for all websites.

I can't find the "Content Blockers" setting

This is a Safari bug (see Bug 303800). The "Content Blockers" setting appears only after you install a third-party content blocker from the ‌App Store‌ -- uBOL is primarily considered a "browser extension", hence it's not meant to be affected by the "Content Blockers" setting, but the bug causes uBOL to be partially affected.

To ensure the "Content Blockers" setting is enabled for all websites:

  • Install a third-party content blocker from the ‌App Store‌ (probably the one you had already installed in the past)
  • The "Content Blockers" setting should now be available, be sure it is enabled for all websites (see above)
  • You can now remove the content blocker you just installed

uBOL should now be able to filters properly all websites.
