Troubleshooting
Self-diagnose the proper functioning of uBO Lite (uBOL).
- The default filtering mode automatically switches back to basic
- Safari: uBOL does not filter anything
| The default filtering mode of uBOL is meant to be optimal | In optimal mode, some ad placeholders may remain. Switch to complete mode for that site to hide them. |

When the default mode is basic, uBOL will still filter network requests, but will not apply cosmetic- or scriptlet-based filters.
This happens if you do not give uBOL the permissions to "read and change" data on all websites by default:
Chromium
Firefox
Safari (macOS)
Safari ⇒ "Settings..."
Safari (iOS)
Settings ⇒ Apps ⇒ Safari ⇒ Extensions ⇒ "uBlock Origin Lite"
This happens if you do not allow content blockers in Safari. You need to be sure the "Content Blockers" setting is enabled for all websites.
Safari (macOS)
Safari ⇒ "Settings..."
Above is the default setting for all websites. Be sure that content blockers are not disallowed on a given website:
Safari (iOS)
Settings ⇒ Apps ⇒ Safari ⇒ "Settings for Websites" section ⇒ "Content Blockers"
Above is the default setting for all websites. Be sure that content blockers are not disallowed on a given website:
This is a Safari bug (see Bug 303800). The "Content Blockers" setting appears only after you install a third-party content blocker from the App Store -- uBOL is primarily considered a "browser extension", hence it's not meant to be affected by the "Content Blockers" setting.
To ensure the "Content Blockers" setting is enabled for all websites:
- Install a third-party content blocker from the App Store (probably the one you had already installed in the past)
- The "Content Blockers" setting should now be available, be sure it is enabled for all websites (see above)
- You can now remove the content blocker you just installed
uBOL should now be able to filters properly all websites.
