Bazaar's bizarre disk IO

I just discovered that Bazaar had done 2.5 TB of disk IO over 48-hours ( ~15 MB/s continuously). Any idea why it would be doing this?

Bazaar is not really doing that.. other flatpak apps have "allegedly" done similar (gnome-software, flatpak cli). Here is one possible explanation: flatpak/flatpak#5982 (comment) -- known issue for 2 years now.

tl;dr flatpak applications mis-report disk I/O?
