RimDroid 0.2.7

⚠️ RimDroid is still in beta. Device compatibility and performance vary, especially with large colonies, DLC, and heavy mod lists.

RimDroid is made by one person in evenings and weekends, and this release took a lot of them. There are no ads and no paywall. If the launcher gave you a colony in your pocket, a coffee on Ko-Fi helps me keep going, so your phone gets fixed faster. Thank you!

🆕 What's new

✅ Native ARM64 Mono for RimWorld 1.6 (on by default)

Until now RimDroid emulated all of RimWorld, including the game's own code and every mod. With Native ARM64 Mono, the game's and mods' code runs directly on your phone's processor, and only the Unity engine is emulated.

• Simulation, loading and high game speeds are noticeably faster.
• The bigger the colony and the modlist, the bigger the difference.
• It is on by default for RimWorld 1.6 instances. You can turn it off in the instance settings, card Advanced.
• If the game crashes twice in a row while starting, the launcher offers to turn it off for you.
• Your saves are not affected: they load with it on or off.

It is still marked experimental. If something looks wrong, turn it off and send us the logs, it really helps.

✅ Download from GOG inside the app

Sign in to GOG, load your GOG library and RimWorld and its DLC show up as cards. Downloads run in a queue and keep going if you leave the screen. When a download is done, tap Create an instance for the game or Install for a DLC.

✅ In-app wiki in four languages

English, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese. The ? at the top of every screen opens the part of the wiki about that screen.

✅ New first screen

When you have no instance yet, the main screen shows Getting started with three buttons: Quick start, Download from Steam and Download from GOG.

✅ Updated launcher's GUI

Install mod / DLC (ZIP) is easier to use: one card for where the content goes and one for what you install, with MODS and DLC tabs and a shorter explanation. If you have only one instance, it is picked for you.

Fixes

• The game screen comes back correctly when you return to RimDroid from another app.
• Bug reports and log exports now pick the right instance.
• MobileGlues: improved texture handling; texture compression now applies from the very first launch.

Also in the app:

CJK fonts (Chinese / Japanese / Korean) - special RimDroidCJK mod.

Before you update

Back up your saves: side menu → Export saves. Native ARM64 Mono is new, and a backup costs nothing.

⚠️ Reminder
Rimdroid is only a launcher.
To run the game, you still need the actual game files (Linux version), which you must obtain yourself - for example, by purchasing the game on Steam/GOG.
