We are evaluating TipTap for use in one of our applications and would like clarification on a few licensing and pricing points:
We understand the TipTap editor core is MIT licensed. Can we confirm that this permits full commercial usage and redistribution within a commercial product?
If we implement our own self-hosted real-time collaboration backend using Yjs + Hocuspocus, would this still fall under the free/open-source usage of TipTap?
Which features are exclusive to the paid TipTap Cloud / Platform plans, and which features remain free under the MIT license?
If we do not use TipTap’s cloud storage or managed collaboration services, does any paid plan still apply?
Are there any enterprise licensing requirements we should be aware of for embedding TipTap inside a commercial SaaS application?
We want to ensure proper compliance before proceeding and would appreciate your guidance.
Thank you for your assistance.
