Digital Object Records in CA

Callie edited this page Mar 26, 2025 · 7 revisions

Overview

Digital object records should be created in CA for every digitized file. These digital object records are linked to the physical objects that were digitized and contain storage location information and technical metadata. For most items, there should be a digital object record for the Digital Preservation Master File and the Mezzanine File.

Digital object records for moving image items are named as follows:

UNIQUEID_digipres-master
UNIQUEID_video-mezz

(We do not currently keep mezzanine level files for audio items.)

History

Digital object records for digitized files started being created around 2020.

For mezzanine video files, there should be digital object records for all items written to LTO starting with 000113L7. A potential project would be to go back to earlier LTO7s and create digital object records for those files (which are usually mezzanine copies).
