Oral History File Locations
This page lists where files related to Oral History processing will be stored. This only specifies locations for parts under BMA's purview, not those that the Oral History unit administers.
All files will be stored within the russell share on the Digital Hub. Within that share, files will be stored in /OHM/BMA-OHP/. This directory will contain subfolders to designate different files and different parts of processing.
This subfolder will contain all files contained on the original SD card or other storage device that were ingested. Folders within this directory should be named as the Russell ID of the oral history.
This subfolder will contain all files related to editing the files into access and preservation copies. This includes Premiere or Audition project files, as well as output edit files that have not yet been approved by the donor. Organize folders within by Russell ID.
- Retain additional edits as files with "_01," "_02" suffixes and so on as changes are made.
When the edit has been approved, writethe access copy (mp3 and/or mp4, video should have both) to this folder. There is no need to organize within subfolders. All files can reside in the top level.
When an initial transcript has been derived from scripting and an authenticated transcript from the transcript team, keep both in this folder. No need to put in subfolders, but do designate which transcript is which with "_auth" (authenticated) and "_mach" (machine) suffixes. Additionally, all transcript file types can be saved in this singular location, although we will primarily work with .txt types.
If a location is needed to store import files (containing metadata, scope note, etc.) before importing into CA, use this directory. No need to arrange in subfolders.
Write a preservation copy of each interview (wav and/or mov, video should have both) to this folder. No need to arrange in subfolders.
